Siberian Iris
Iris sibireca
Iris sibirica is a bulbous (rhizomatous) herbaceous perennial which is found across Europe and Central Asia .
It grows up to 1.2m tall, and has narrow grassy foliage and branched stems bearing up to 5 violet-blue flowers in early summer. The flowers have veins of purple and white at the base.
Siberian iris is very hardy in the British climate and grows really well at Garden Cottage, here in Colstream.
Siberian iris grows well in full Sun or in partial Shade and is happy in exposed or sheltered spots. It grows in most soils but prefers well-drained soils.
Plants are available from the Red Shed Nursery in 4ltr or 11cm pots.
