Here we are in sunny Portugal, enjoying the cooler end of a long dry hot summer on this amazing farm. Eighteen folks fulltime (and a few folks floating in and out) with Facilitator George Christophis and co-teacher Wallay Toughill (with a little help from our friends…) we had a fantastic presentation today from our hostess Rosa – invisible structures and the economics and reality of organic fig production, eco tourism and the rest of a vibrant system, achieved in only eight years from an inherited bankruptcy situation.

Unfortunately we have been forced to go to the beach to teach making A frames (thanks to Josh) and establishing contours specifically for dry land management.
After all that hard work the choice of a swim in the ocean, a cold beer or both at sunset. You can learn a lot, but you also get to have fun on Permaculture Design Courses… next year’s course in planning now!
