It’s Burns Night

Not everyone understands this: Robert Burns is Scotland’s National Poet. Traditionally we eat Haggis and drink a wee bit of whisky and toast his memory. If you are really into it, it gets a bit more ritualistic than that. But I thought I’d just share with you a few of his words…

Fae The Vision

So give my counsels all in one:
Thy tuneful flame still careful fan;
Preserve the dignity of Man,
With soul erect;
And trust the Universal Plan;
Will all protect.

And secondly: fae Does Haughty Gaul Invasion Threat:

O, let us not, like snarling tykes,
In wrangling be divided,
Till, slap! come in an unco loun,
And wi’ a rung decide it!
Be Britain still to Britain true,
Amang ourselves united!
For never but by Britsh hands
Maun British wrangs be righted!

And lastly fae: The Braw Lads O’ Gala Water:

It ne’er was wealth,it ne’er was wealth,
That coft contentment, peace, and pleasure:
The bands and bliss o’ mutual love,
O, that’s the chiefest world’s treasure!

My tuppence for the nicht. Here’s a toast tae the Bard!
